The Journal Research on the Conservation of Cave Temples and Earthen Sites Was Promoted at the Chinese Society for Conservation Technology of Cultural Relics

From May 23rd to 26th, 2023, the "11th Academic Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society for Conservation Technology of Cultural Relics" was held in Zhengzhou. Nearly 400 people from universities, scientific research institutes, and cultural relics protection enterprises across the country participated in this grand event to discuss and exchange ideas.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, Wang Xudong, the Director of the Palace Museum, delivered an online speech. Wang Shiwei, the Chairman of the Chinese Society for Conservation Technology of Cultural Relics, Jia Lianmin, the Deputy Director of the Henan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics, Liu Haiwang, the Director of the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and Chen Jiachang, the Director of the Henan Provincial Center for the Scientific and Technological Protection of Cultural Relics, etc. attended the opening ceremony.

After the opening ceremony, Chen Jiachang, the Director of the Henan Provincial Center for the Scientific and Technological Protection of Cultural Relics, Zhou Yang, the Deputy Director of the China National Silk Museum, and Zhan Changfa, a Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage, respectively delivered keynote speeches on aspects such as innovative scientific and technological protection, scientific and technological innovation in cultural relics protection, and the exploration of multidisciplinary integration. The conference also conducted comprehensive and systematic discussions and exchanges on the protection of cultural relics such as fragile bronze wares, outdoor iron cultural relics, and ancient buildings eroded by termites.

This academic annual meeting was oriented towards the grassroots level. It not only focused on academic exchanges but also attached importance to information exchanges. It explored the protection principles, concepts, norms, and procedures of cultural relics of different materials, as well as the concepts, principles, and methods of cultural relics protection, aiming to achieve faster and better development of cultural relics science and technology in cultural relics protection and restoration.

On May 24th, the academic seminars of the Chinese Society for Conservation Technology of Cultural Relics were held simultaneously in three sub - venues, namely the preventive protection of immovable cultural relics, the analysis and detection of cultural relics, and the research on the protection of movable cultural relics. Niu Heqiang from the Editorial Department of Research on the Conservation of Cave Temples and Earthen Sites delivered an academic report titled "Experimental Research on the Cleaning of Soot Pollution on Murals with Gel Materials" at the sub - venue of the research on the protection of movable cultural relics. At the end of the report, he introduced the journal Research on the Conservation of Cave Temples and Earthen Sites, promoted and publicized the journal, and earnestly requested experts and scholars to contribute their excellent works.
